Notes
In his first session with teachers at Brockwood Park School in September 1976 Krishnamurti asks if the teachings can be conveyed through the regular school subjects. He asks the staff what they would be able to tell a new colleague coming in from what they have learnt in the years since the school's inception and leads them to discuss and analyse what it means to be "free" as a teacher -- from motive, self-interest, desire for status, etc.
He concludes the first chapter saying "This is what I want to do together, write a book together." (p.38) The ensuing book is a fascinating primer for teachers who want to put Krishnamurti's views on education into practice.
