Notes
In his first book Rupert Sheldrake suggests that morphogenesis, the coming into being and replication of specific organic forms, creates a 'morphogenetic field', analogous to a magnetic field, as a kind of blueprint that is able to influence related developing systems through space and time, from the formation of a crystal to the learning patterns in human beings.
According to the review of this book in Share International No. 8, October 1984, "From the esoteric viewpoint, the morphogenetic field sounds rather like the etheric counterpart of the dense physical form. In these terms the dense physical form -- that which we normally but mistakenly experience as the only physical form -- does indeed 'find' or fit into the 'template' of the etheric which precipitates the dense physical. ... Coming from conventional science, the theory offers explanations for'paranormal' phenomena; suggests a conscious purpose in all levels of nature; and the possibility of the interconnectedness of all organisms."
